Weatherization Residential Assistance Partnership (WRAP)

WRAPThe Weatherization Residential Assistance Partnership (WRAP) is a free in-home service designed to help lower energy bills by making homes more comfortable and energy-efficient. Connecticut’s WRAP program was created through the joint efforts of the Department of Energy and The Northeast Utility System, including Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P), Yankee Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG).

The WRAP program is designed for customers (renters or owners alike) that meet certain income guidelines. Families or individuals who live on a low or fixed income that is at or below 60 percent of the state median income are eligible.

Everyone’s home is different and everyone uses energy in different ways. When a WRAP Technician comes to a residence, he will offer certain energy-saving improvements, depending on what is needed to promote the most effective use of energy in the home.

The Technician may:

  • Check and seal drafty windows and doors;
  • Evaluate walls and attic to determine if insulation is needed;
  • Determine if you qualify for an energy-efficient appliance replacement;
  • Provide and install energy-efficient, compact fluorescent bulbs and table lamps;
  • Provide and install water conservation equipment such as faucet aerators and low-flow shower heads if needed; and
  • Provide additional efficiency measures as needed.
