Patient Support at Griffin Hospital
Griffin Hospital is known for providing access to information for patients, families and the community on the nature, diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions including the full range of traditional and non-traditional therapies.
Griffin Hospital facilitates patients to be informed participants in decisions affecting their care and well being.
The patient support includes but is not limited to: assisting patient in-take, orientating the patient to one day surgery or a longer stay, transporting a patient to another deparment within the hospital, staying with the patient and returning the patient to their room, daily check-in on patients in an assiged area, assist the patient with completing menus, letters, hospital paperwork, explain hospital policy regarding patient rights, assuring patients in times of stress or worry, providing patients with personal attention that lets them know they matter to the hospital, bringing requested items from the gift shop, working in the gift shop, as needed, and assisting in patient discharge.
These activities could take place in various departments in the hospital, depending on the preferences and skills of the volunteers.
Skills necessary include:
- Patient advocacy
- General office skills including clerical and data entry
- Fluency in English or another language
Must be at least 55 years of age.
