The Distribution Committee awarded nine grants to Meriden non-profit organizations ranging from $2,000 to $43,000. The Boys and Girls Club of Meriden, an organization that provides activities and programs for all the youth of the Meriden community, received funds to purchase a 15 passenger van, funds to make repairs on the pool at its outdoor camp, and funds to make various renovations at the Lincoln Street facility. The Cuno Foundation has supported the Boys and Girls Club over many years and this grant will be used effectively as part of Phase 1 of their Capital Improvement Plan.

The Cuno Foundation has always supported the United Way of Meriden and Wallingford and made a $22,000 annual pledge for 2015. Other recipients include the Catholic Charities, Inc., Meriden Humane Society, New Opportunities for Waterbury, Inc. on behalf of Boys to Men Enrichment Program, the Meriden Hall of Fame, Birthright of Greater Meriden, and Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Cuno Foundation is again accepting grant applications for public, charitable or educational purposes. Grants are usually made for specific, tangible items or capital expense requests that directly benefit the recipient. The Cuno Foundation does not grant funds for salaries. Applications are reviewed three times a year. The next deadline date to submit an application is Monday, Dec. 15. Awards will be announced in January. Preference is given to proposals submitted by tax-exempt, not for profit organizations located in the Meriden area.
