Michael A. Gurecka
Mr. Gurecka has over 36 years of experience in the Social Service field, starting in 1978 as one of the first members of the newly created Weatherization Assistance Program funded by the US Department of Energy with the State of Connecticut. With his degree in Business Management and Marketing, he gained certifications in Federal Grants Management and State plan submittals. Mr. Gurecka extended his career as the Chief Fiscal Officer with the Human Resources Agency of New Britain, Inc. During this 23 year period, Mr. Gurecka specialized in early child care becoming a certified national Federal Reviewer for Administration for Children and Families Head Start and Early Head Start programs in the areas of Financial Management and Board Governance.
Mr. Gurecka worked as Director of Business Development – Energy Services for New Opportunities, Inc. in Waterbury CT from November 2009 to October 2015. New Opportunities, Inc. is a 501©3 not for profit Community Action Agency with an array of social service programs such as Elder Services, Early Childcare, Energy Assistance and Weatherization. Mr. Gurecka oversaw the 21 million dollar 3 year DOE ARRA weatherization program and the DOE Weatherization plus Health Initiative, along with the Home Energy Solutions – Income Eligible program and the CT Efficiency Healthy Homes Initiative program. Mr. Gurecka has received his national certification from the Building Performance Institute in Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Multi-Family and his Healthy Homes Practitioners certification.
In 2011, Mr. Gurecka was a founding member of The Home Performance Alliance of CT, were he held the position of board member and Treasurer until his term expired in 2015.
