Dona Ditrio is the Director of Employment and Regional Programs at New Opportunities. Her background includes over thirty-five years of experience in human services, and over two decades experience in senior leadership positions for human services organizations.
At New Opportunities, Dona is responsible for oversight of the agency's Meriden satellite office and One-Stop employment offices in Waterbury, Torrington and Danbury. She is also responsible for the agency's summer programs and In-The-Making program.
Prior to joining New Opportunities in 2000, Dona served for two decades as a Deputy Director for Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now, Inc. (NEON) where she lead Head Start and Employment / Education divisions. She also held a position as Director of Community House, Inc.
Dona earned a Master's of Education degree in School Agency and Counseling from the University of Bridgeport, a Certificate of Advanced Study from Fairfield University and a Bachelor of Education from Southern Connecticut State University. She has been honored as a Head Start Fellow by UCLA.
Dona has earned designations as a Field Representative from the Council for Early Childhood Recognition, a Family Development for Leaders Certificate and Training Facilitator from the Children's Trust Fund & University of Connecticut School of Development and Family Studies, and a Connecticut Early Childhood Director by Charter Oak State College.
Dona's professional achievements include co-authoring a book chapter about residential programs for women and testifying before a Congressional Subcommittee on Government Reform and Oversight before the House of Representatives about the importance of the parent teacher relationship, child care environment and the ability and mental health of the teacher.
